Indie MEGABOOTH Eagerly Awaiting PAX East and GDC 2019 Submissions, Right Now!

It's that time again - when developers trip over one another to get their game submitted to next year's Indie MEGABOOTH at PAX East and Game Developer's Conference (GDC), respectively. Well okay, so that's a blatant lie, as such things are done digitally nowadays, but if not for that, I'm sure there would be absolute chaos, everyone rushing to... mail their floppies? Yeah. Let's go with that.

IGF 2018 Winners at a Glance: Puzzle Platforming Through the Woods

Over the years I've become a bit of an IGF fan, doing my best to ensure it gets as much coverage as possible. But... my affection for all things IGF likely pale compared to that of Infinite Fall, Night in the Woods' creator, seeing how they went home with a fair amount of prize money at the awards last night. Other games also saw plenty of financial glory - and exposure - courtesy of awards across several categories.

GDC 2018 Indie MEGABOOTH Lineup (and Schedule) is Looking Mighty Groovy

It's time for the first Indie MEGABOOTH of 2018! Who's excited? I mean, you should be, but if you aren't, hopefully the lineup of groovy indie games can do something about that. Even if you won't be attending this year's GDC, eh, use the list as a means of discovering games you might have otherwise never heard about. I've done that in the past after all. But onwards to the topic at hand...

Let’s Hear It For the 2018 Indie Games Festival Finalists!

January's here and you know what that means: speedrunning marathon charity, Awesome Games Done Quick! Oh, and IGF finalists. Which is what this article is all about, much as I absolutely love Games Done Quick. So... unsurprisingly, like last time, we've got at a mix of well-known titles and ones I feel I should be more familiar with than I am. Huh. What a groovy assortment, though.

alt.ctrl.GDC 2018 Is Searching High and Low For Alternative Controlled Games

Question: where do you find the craziest, most obscure, completely bonkers video game controllers, and of course, games created with them in mind? Answer: provided we're staying in the realm of (our) reality, alt.ctrl.GDC, without a doubt. It's been a thing for the past several years, attracting a lovely amount of attention, and from the look of things, 2018 is going to be no different. Yay, unique stuff!

Give It Up For the 2017 Indie Games Festival Finalists!

January's a great month, really. Not only do we get to enjoy the lengthy speedrunning marathon charity, Awesome Games Done Quick, but... it's also when the new year's IGF finalists are found, and this time's no exception - on either front. Like last time, we're looking at a mix of well-known titles and, well, let's just say I feel like the rest should be more familiar to me (and you!) than they are, based on a quick glance. Such a groovy assortment.

IGF 2016 Winners at a Glance: Explosive Mini Stories

With this year's Game Developer's Conference (GDC) almost at an end, the time for Indie Games Festival (IGF) fun is upon us; or more accurately, the IGF awards! Quite the variety too amongst these eight categories, as games with everything from bomb defusal to personal stories and a barely lit dungeon were featured. But which were the victor(s), and which had to settle for runner-up?

Get Hyped For GDC 2016 With This Year’s Groovy Indie MEGABOOTH Lineup

While there are certainly other reasons to attend this year's GDC, the titles that make up its Indie MEGABOOTH ain't nothing to sneeze at either. Almost the exact opposite I'd say, with the likes of In The Shadows and Metareal featured. Oh and those two are joined by a grand total of thirteen other up-and-coming indie games, so even if neither of those are to your liking, there's bound to still be something fun for ya on the floor. Something... groovy.

Let’s Hear It For the 18th Annual Indie Games Festival Finalists

As another year has recently ended, true to tradition, we now find ourselves rapidly approaching the time for a new Indie Games Festival (and with it, a batch of lovely competition finalists). Some are already rather well-known, while other - well, let's just say there are some even I don't recognize. Oh and surprising exactly no one, UNDERTALE is nominated in three different categories. Quite groovy.

IGF China 2015 Finalists at a Glance, Main and Student

While not as big in terms of scale as the main IGF competition, IGF China is still not to be underestimated, clocking in at more than 350 entries this time around. That's 350 independently created games from the Asia-Pacific area specifically. Quite a handful, and even though these 16 have made it to the finals, chances are there'll be at least a few you haven't heard of (yet). Which is just... groovy!
