Submissions are Open for the 25th Annual ‘Indie Game Festival’

It’s that time of the year again: the magical time during which developers rush to submit their games to this year’s Indie Game Festival (IGF)! So many indie games, lots of winners (eventually) too, and lots of celebrations at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2023.

Don’t ya just love having an entire festival dedicated to indie games? I mean, this one has been running for several decades, so surely someone out there does at least, and I for one am mighty thankful for that! Yes, decades, and wow, that’s actually a really long time. As usual, a lot of developers are likely going to end up competing, and there are a lot of categories to compete in, but still. Lots of money up for grabs, lots of games to shine that bright spotlight on – basically, lots of… well, good stuff.

The Independent Games Festival is the longest-running and highest profile independent video game festival, summit and showcase.

So get that project submitted in time! Just in case, I’ve listed important dates/deadlines below. For more details (and to confirm I didn’t make any mistakes), be sure to check out the announcement post.

So, who’s hyped for the 25th annual IGF (and of course, GDC 2023)?

  • September 28, 2022: Submissions are Open
  • November 16, 2022: Submission Deadline

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
