
Did you know that on average, more than two dozen games are submitted to Greenlight each week? In trying to make navigating so many new arrivals easier, I decided to create The Greenlight Groove, featuring a list of my recommendations.
As you go through the list below, keep in mind that these are simply the ones I might one day buy from Steam and play, not every single Greenlight addition from the past week (hence, “recommendations”). Spheroid
Spheroid is a retro shooter game. It takes after game mechanics of Metroid, Starfox 64, Fire Emblem, and Armored Core. The story is about a war between the Spheroid and the Zinth. All of the characters are crystal golems with laser guns. Follow a handful of characters with unique and exaggerated abilities and personalities as they fight to prevent their world from deletion.
SKYJACKER
SKYJACKER is a first person, free-roaming space simulator that offers intense combat through mercenary missions that have starship pilots hijack, destroy and loot enemy vessels. Players take control of one of the most ruthless pirates in the galaxy, Ael. SKYJACKER’s physics and extensive spaceship customization abilities give space enthusiasts freedom to go beyond the stars like never before.
The Patient
In the near future you – a renowned professor – create a machine to help cure people with mental problems. It proves to be a huge success thus gaining you a lot of fame and money. But while the machine worked on some patients, other cases weren’t successful and the patients got even worse. A local reporter starts suspecting you are a fraud and launches an investigation to prove your guilt. Now in order to dismiss her accusations you decide to use the machine yourself to access the memory of your last failed patient and find and fix the problem.
Super Trench Attack
The Dastardly Black Army has invaded your homeland! The only thing between them and victory stands one man. A new recruit with a penchant for naked lady magazines and an eye for headshots. Enter the crazy world of Super Trench Attack.
You Are Not The Hero (pre-alpha demo impressions)
You play as Petula, an unemployed, emotionally charged, ill-tempered, otherwise average young woman. With the royal army hot on their heels, the heroes have made their way to your village where they resume scavenging for supplies in everyone’s homes. After confronting them for stealing your pendant, they rush off to continue their quest, giving you a quest of your own to retrieve it.
Festival of Magic
Festival of Magic (FoM) is an original adventure role-playing game in which the players must fight and farm their way to glory. Join Amon, a desert scavenger and his reluctant companion Gnart, as they unravel the ancient mysteries of Umbra – a world divided by light and magic. The game combines turn-based combat and farming gameplay with exploration and puzzle-packed quests. Grow spuds, tend barnacles and use your harvest as powerful ammunition and spells; load your weapons, team up your companions and get ready for an epic adventure.
Probably Archery (pre-release demo impressions)
Inspired by games like QWOP and Surgeon Simulator 2013, Probably Archery gives the player more control over the minutia of their joint movements. Tons of ridiculous scenarios to conquer, multiplayer battles to fight and brutal target challenges to dominate.
Boogerman “A Pick and Flick Adventure” 20th Anniversary
It’s a dark and stormy night at Professor Stinkbaum’s lab where a machine has been built to save the world by trans-existing all pollution to a far-away location in time and space dubbed Dimension X-Crement. Eccentric millionaire Snotty Ragsdale has taken a job at the lab to investigate its safety and to find out exactly where the pollution is going. He has a bad feeling about Professor Stinkbaum’s latest contraption. This night his suspicions will come true…
