The Greenlight Groove: ‘Gunslugs 2’, ‘Cherry Tree High I! My! Girls!’ and More

September 21st, 2014 Wraithkal Feature

It’s a fact that many Steam users don’t check or even notice most Greenlight additions. There are simply too many, making it rather time-consuming. Hoping to alleviate this problem somewhat, I bring you The Greenlight Groove, featuring my recommendations from the past week!

Keep in mind that those listed below are by no means the only new arrivals, simply those I gave my ‘yes’ vote. With that in mind, would you kindly help make sure none end up as a potential Stuck In Greenlight Limbo candidate, by voting? Oh and do provide their creators with feedback. I’m sure they’ll appreciate anything, as long as it’s expressed properly (please, be nice).

Guppy

Guppy
Guppy is a 2D watercolor fish simulation that tries to replicate the way fish propel themselves through the water, moving their tail left and right. Venture carefully into the open in search of food, hide in the shade of lilies to avoid predators and swim with friendly schools of fish. Try not to get eaten.

Gunslugs 2

Gunslugs 2 (@orangepixel)
The evil Black Duck Army is at it again, and only the Gunslugs can stop them. They are using their signal towers to send signals into outer space.. why? nobody knows, but it can’t be a good thing! While unlocking the various Gunslugs characters and their weapons, survive the six area’s and defeat the Black Duck Army before it’s too late!

Tales of Aravorn: Seasons Of The Wolf

Tales of Aravorn: Seasons Of The Wolf
In this role-playing game, set in the same fantasy world as the award-winning Loren the Amazon princess, you’ll play as Shea or Althea, twins from the far-away village Ninim. In just the course of one year, you will experience many storylines and sidequests; situations and events where your own choices influence the very end of the game.

EMILY

EMILY (@PixelWorm)
Play as EMILY, a teenager who fell victim to a vicious pandemic. In a desperate attempt to counter the infection, she was injected with an untested vaccine containing Nano-bots. However, a malfunction in the system caused the Nano-bots inside her body to overload, resulting in total absorption of her DNA, morphing her physical body into a mechanical structure.

Sky Rogue

Sky Rogue (@nihilocrat)
A simple, accessible-yet-difficult, fwooshy, “feel good” arcade flight simulator. Blow things up over land, sea, and air, on an infinite number of procedurally-generated islands, but watch out for volleys of missiles; when you die, you’re dead.

Lighthockey

Lighthockey
Air-hockey game with power-loader mechanic to blow up your opponents.

Sylvio

Sylvio (@sylviogame)
Juliette Waters is an audio recordist, specialized in recording the voices of ghosts. In search for a good recording, she has trespassed into an old family park called Saginaw. The park has been closed to the public since a deadly storm in 1971. Unaware to her, there is an old curse dwelling in the forests of Saginaw. The curse was named Sylvio centuries ago by italian settlers.

Cherry Tree High I! My! Girls!

Cherry Tree High I! My! Girls! ++PLUS++ Cherry Tree High Comedy Club (Original Setting Version)
Now that Miley and friends have successfully re-opened the club, they actually need to act like a club! Miley’s nemesis Octavia hasn’t run out of tricks to catch them out just yet, so they’ll need to be careful! But the Octavia isn’t the only thing that Miley and friends must watch out for… A rival club is competing for the spot of number one entertainment, and a new transfer student will deeply affect the Comedy Club line-up!

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
