The Greenlight Groove: ‘Voyage to Farland’, ‘Tengami’ and More

May 4th, 2014 Wraithkal Feature

It’s a fact that many Steam users don’t check or even notice most Greenlight additions. There are simply too many, making it rather time-consuming. Hoping to alleviate this problem somewhat, I bring you The Greenlight Groove, featuring my recommendations from the past week!

Keep in mind that those listed below are by no means the only new arrivals, simply those I gave my ‘yes’ vote. With that in mind, would you kindly help make sure none end up as a potential Stuck In Greenlight Limbo candidate, by voting? Oh and do provide their creators with feedback. I’m sure they’ll appreciate anything, as long as it’s expressed properly (please, be nice).

Voyage to Farland

Voyage to Farland
You are a wandering adventurer, looking for your kidnapped sister. But to find her, you’ll have to fight mask-wearing severed heads, ill-tempered “Viper Beetles” that spin and toss you, catapult-riding felines that lob items at you, plus more crazy monsters with crazier powers in this hardcore, permadeath adventure. No two attempts are ever the same. Replay value levelup! Are you up to the task?

Courier

Courier
You will explore a rich, fantasy world as you experience a deep story, explore dungeons, help townspeople, and avoid obstacles. But you play as a mail-carrier instead of a warrior. The focus is on the expansive world and the experiences within instead of endless combat, random battles, and bloodshed. You will traverse wide stretches of land, visit towns, navigate dangerous dungeons, and solve many puzzles. However, you won’t complete this task with a sword, but something mightier. And not fire spells, either.

Ghost Song

Ghost Song
Explore a treacherous map, filled with wonders and dangers.. Piece together a deep story by finding clues and meeting npcs. Learn the secrets of the world and discover your own purpose.

Uncanny Valley

Uncanny Valley
Uncanny Valley is a survival horror game that includes a mix of exploring, discovering the story, solving puzzles and a bit of action. We’re trying to preserve the old survival horror kind of gameplay instead of following the modern trend of creating a third person shooter with horror elements.

Tengami

Tengami
Tengami is an atmospheric adventure game set inside a Japanese pop-up book. Fold and slide the beautifully crafted paper world to solve puzzles and discover secrets.

Daily Espada

Daily Espada
Brazilian Mythology’s headless fire horse – defeat it and your wife gets a brand new limousine. You’re participating in a game show where you face a mix of giant monsters and hate emails from your daughter, all to provide for your family.

Stratega

Stratega
Stratega is a fast paced real time strategy game with a combination of Tower Defense. In this game you will have to gather minerals, survive wave of enemies attacks and invade the enemy base. The game features an addictive and unique gameplay where your skills will be put to test in every mission. Defend your Hive, expand it and take down your enemy to master Stratega.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
