The Greenlight Groove: ‘1849’, ‘The Floor is Jelly’ and More

February 23rd, 2014 Wraithkal Feature
The Greenlight Groove: ‘1849’, ‘The Floor is Jelly’ and More

It’s a fact that many Steam users don’t check or even notice most Greenlight additions. There are simply too many, making it rather time-consuming. Hoping to alleviate this problem somewhat, I bring you The Greenlight Groove, featuring my recommendations from the past week!

Keep in mind that those listed below are by no means the only new arrivals, simply those I gave my ‘yes’ vote. With that in mind, would you kindly help make sure none end up as a potential Stuck In Greenlight Limbo candidate, by voting? Oh and do provide their creators with feedback. I’m sure they’ll appreciate anything, as long as it’s expressed properly (please, be nice).

Zaharia

Zaharia
Zaharia is an RPG with an oriental and middle eastern flavored setting, inspired by Middle East cultures charm and made with care to be original but, at the same time, plausible and convincing. The player will be able to create his own character and use him freely, writing his own story in the world of Zaharia without neither compromises nor constraints. While exploring the game’s world, the player will discover its centuries-old history, and will come in contact with a world radically different from the ones inspired to European Middle-Age.

The Floor is Jelly

The Floor is Jelly
Who hasn’t dreamt, at some point, of filling a pool full of jello and swimming in it? In some of us, that dream never died. Some of us kept dreaming: what if the whole street was jello? Or the continent? The world!? The Floor is Jelly posits a universe made of jello, made purely for one’s own amusement. No longer need we look to our walls and our floors and sigh, “How solid! How sadly immalleable! How I wish for a world consisting only of Non-Newtonian fluids!” That world has arrived, via the dark magic of videogames, as The Floor is Jelly.

Joan Mad Run

Joan Mad Run
Having no one she can trust, Joan, luckily, has her guns, that would leave no chance for anyone or anything in her way. Stimulating in its sheer insanity and unnerving in its out-of-control brutality, the game instantly forces you into Joan’s shoes. And that’s when you get an amazing chance to satisfy your bloodlust by burning your enemies alive, melting them with acid, chopping them and watching their blood spurt like geyser, striking them with lightning, exploding them, squeezing them like bugs or sending them directly to the blazing inferno.

Mothership Attack

Mothership Attack
Your mothership has a heat indicator. If you get hit by enemy ships and asteroids or if you fire your guns, your heat level will rise. The only way to prevent overheating is to cool down your mothership. For this, the player is equippet with a cooling device which the player can activate with the right mouse button. This will drain the cooling liquid as well, according to the amount of cooled heat, but it regenerates automatically.

1849

1849
With all of the peril and possibility of the new frontier, 1849 challenges you to build a thriving mining empire in 19th century California. Inspired by SimCity and other classic simulation games, 1849 is set within 20 real Gold Rush-era cities, each with unique topography and natural resources that influence how they grow. Transform Northern California from a rugged backwater into an economic powerhouse: build mines, establish farms, attract workers and keep up with their ever-increasing needs, set up trade networks from the High Sierras to San Francisco and beyond—and best of all, strike it rich!

Amphoria

Amphoria
Amphora is a peculiar puzzle game that mix story elements and physics. Amphora presents you with an unfamiliar world with a striking visual style inspired by all the shadow theatre traditions andcolors of the world. Each scene will show you something new and always try to challenge your understanding of what is going on.

NIKO: Through The Dream

NIKO: Through The Dream
“Niko: Through The Dream®” is a minimalist adventure accompanying Niko in her return to her world. We will travel through different islands, each of them being the oniric representation of an important event of her past. Happiness, solitude or fear melted with hidden riddles, you will face up dangers and traps and, with Niko, you will confront them with determination, ability and logic.

SanctuaryRPG

SanctuaryRPG
SanctuaryRPG™ is a critically acclaimed strategic turn-based monster slaying and dungeon crawling adventure set in the retro ASCII-art world of Sanctuary. Drawing heavy inspiration from both Roguelikes and Japanese RPGs, the developers have poured over 10,000 hours of work into the game, meticulously designing every aspect to offer a truly compelling and deeply replayable gameplay experience. With dynamic combat, hilarious dialogue, and plenty of weapons at your disposal, this is truly the most ambitious ASCII-art RPG of 2014.

Wraithkal

Wraithkal

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
