The Greenlight Groove: ‘Noct’, ‘Three Fourths Home’ and More

August 17th, 2014 Wraithkal Feature

It’s a fact that many Steam users don’t check or even notice most Greenlight additions. There are simply too many, making it rather time-consuming. Hoping to alleviate this problem somewhat, I bring you The Greenlight Groove, featuring my recommendations from the past week!

Keep in mind that those listed below are by no means the only new arrivals, simply those I gave my ‘yes’ vote. With that in mind, would you kindly help make sure none end up as a potential Stuck In Greenlight Limbo candidate, by voting? Oh and do provide their creators with feedback. I’m sure they’ll appreciate anything, as long as it’s expressed properly (please, be nice).

Noct

Noct (@c3sk)
Noct is a multiplayer monster survival horror action adventure game which utilizes a minimalist visual approach. Players take on the role of a survivor adventuring through a world turned wasteland consisting of desolation and terror. Your gameplay experience is viewed through a keyhole thermal imaging satellite system, which tracks your survivor throughout the course of the game. The entire game world is persistent. Players may choose to connect to, or host their own world servers which they can adventure in.

Relic Hunters Zero

Relic Hunters Zero (@markventurelli)
Relic Hunters Zero is a game about shooting space ducks and space turtles in the face with tiny cute guns. It’s fast, it’s tactical, and feels delicious and smooth to play.

Three Fourths Home

Three Fourths Home (@bracket_games)
In Three Fourths Home, players assume the role of Kelly while she is driving home during this thunderstorm. The focus of the game is its narrative, conveyed through an extended conversation Kelly has with her parents and younger brother. The player must navigate the conversation while driving through a stylized representation of rural Nebraska set against rumbling thunder and the music playing from the car’s tape deck.

Cube27

Cube27 (@Cube27Game)
Cube27 is a simple, yet challenging 3D matching game where the player’s goal is to match pairs of cubes before time runs out. Cube27 includes securities, powerups, several challenge modes, and different texture packs (including one for colorblind). Cube27 is a fast pased puzzle game that will leave you wanting for more!

Queen At Arms

Queen At Arms (@RosstinMurphy)
A story of political intrigue, love, and war: Navigate a world rife with political intrigue, bloodshed, and uncertainty as a young soldier still seeking her place in the world. Form strong bonds with others to survive. Every choice counts: Player agency is everything, and you can act as you please. But be aware—each time you make a decision, it has the potential to affect everything from battle outcomes to your relationships with other characters. And you may lose a friend or two before the war is over!

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
