This time the spotlight will be shining on Beware Planet Earth!, a tower defence from Lightmare Studios where your task is to prevent aliens from kidnapping your cows; it’s every bit as strange as it sounds. Let’s see if we can’t help it escape the cold emptiness of Greenlight limbo.
Beware Planet Earth! is a mix between classic tower defense and a time management game. You have to save your cows from Martian invasion, not only by building an effective defense using towers, traps and objects, but also by firing directly your raygun at the green men.Help us repel the Martian invasion!
See? Told ya! In order to prevent the aliens from going on a cow-napping spree, you’ll have to place defences along their path, in traditional tower defence style. Early on you’ll only have to deal with ‘normal’ aliens (if such a thing even exists), but as you progress, the game throws more complex types into the mix. Ninjas will blaze through your defences, rarely taking a hit – unless you ‘chill’ them, while those wearing a disguise will be able to sneak past your basic defences. A fun game for sure, but… a way to increase the speed would certainly have made it better because there’s not a lot to do after everything’s been set up.
So riddle me this, dear reader: why is Beware Planet Earth! still struggling to get through Greenlight? It’s been out since June 2012, so lack of availability is certainly not the reason. If you haven’t done so already, might I recommend visiting its Greenlight page and handing over a ‘yes’, if you like what you see? Remember, your vote matters!
Beware Planet Earth! is available for Windows and Mac from a wealth of places, all of which are listed on the official website, priced at $9.99 / €7.99, with no DRM.
