The Greenlight Groove: ‘Mayhem Triple’, ‘The Last Time’ and More

July 19th, 2015 Wraithkal Feature

Many Steam users don’t check or even notice most Greenlight additions; there are simply too many, making it rather time-consuming. Hoping to alleviate this problem somewhat, I bring you The Greenlight Groove, featuring my recommendations from the past week!

Elroy And The Aliens (GL)

Elroy And The Aliens
Elroy And The Aliens is a hand-drawn point & click adventure game, animated in 2D and inspired by Saturday morning cartoons. The story is about Elroy, a witty aspiring scientist who goes on a world-saving mission to stop aliens from carelessly destroying the Earth.

The Last Time (GL)

The Last Time
Jack Glover was a police officer. His life hadn’t been particularly eventful in spite of his line of work; his patch was relatively peaceful, and most of his patrols were spent chatting with his partner. One day, however, something went terribly wrong (you can play the prologue in the demo to find out more), and he suffered an emotional trauma. Cut to forty years later, and we find Jack languishing in a care home, living out his remaining years in solitude. Suddenly, the phone rings; the caller is somebody connected with his past, and they want to meet with him. This phone call starts a chain of events which forces Jack back into the real world, where he must overcome the challenges that come with age; physical frailty, ignorance of modern technology, and, most importantly, his difficulty connecting with people.

The Wizard's Lair (GL)

The Wizard’s Lair
Fearful fiends, terrifying traps and mind-boggling mazes await you in the depths! Can you handle the challenge of The Wizard’s Lair? This role-playing game adventure features randomly generated dungeons, 16-bit style graphics and easy-to-learn gameplay! Create your hero and challenge the terrors and traps of this 30-floor dungeon!

Void Invaders (GL)

Void Invaders
This addictive game is not your average space shooter. You must spray bullets at colorful Space Invader inspired characters that are moving down the screen towards you. They’re fast moving and utilise a variety of attack patterns, making for some intense, adrenaline-fuelled gameplay – especially with the two amazing boss battles that provide a tough challenge.

Balrum (GL)

Balrum
Balrum features a living fantasy world with deep tactical combat and dozens of side quests next to an epic main quest. In addition to traditional RPG features Balrum has deep crafting which allows the player to craft their own custom items. Balrum also features farming your own crops, building your home, and survival mechanics complemented by the game’s main features.

Mayhem Triple

Mayhem Triple
Mayhem Triple is a completely free game that I spent 10 years creating. It combines highly stylish, polished and acrobatic combat with absurdism and low-brow humor, so you can dive with 2 pistols and slide along the floor, firing to blow off the head of the invading bunny soldier. Throughout the game are highly cinematic setpieces that will dazzle as well as challenge, with 5 detailed levels that lead up to the epic confrontation in the earth’s upper atmosphere. When you beat the game, though, it’s not the end, as Mayhem Triple features a unique in-story new game + feature that must be utilized to get the real ending through clever exploration.

Mind-Mecca (GL)

Mind-Mecca
Mind-Mecca is an interactive experience that combines reflection with contemplation. Through monochrome environments and organico-mecanic soundscapes, Mind-Mecca’s universe portrays an atmosphere devoid of all heat. Little by little, exploration and logic puzzles will lead you to a place where the patience is the most enlightening virtue. It is only by undertaking this journey, fueled by your own imagination, that new facets of your surroundings will be revealed.

Wraithkal

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
