[Update: Greenlit] Stuck In Greenlight Limbo: ‘COLUMNAE: A Past Under Construction’

[Update: Greenlit] Stuck In Greenlight Limbo: ‘COLUMNAE: A Past Under Construction’

This time the spotlight will be shining on COLUMNAE: A Past Under Construction, a pointy and clicky steampunky adventure. So let’s break it out of Greenlight limbo, eh?

Aside from classic point & click adventure features, COLUMNAE introduces the concept of retrocausality which along with nonlinear nature of the gameplay allows the player to affect not only the future but also the past of the main character and the world surrounding him.

Ya know, it’s one thing to affect upcoming events – which Telltale, among other, has done with great success – but the past too? That’s tricky business, and honestly, a solid fit for the steampunk theme COLUMNAE carries. Oh, did I mention how the world is seemingly one gigantic mess, full of troublesome things like corruption, poverty and such? Yeah. Doom and gloom is definitely part of this one, although that’s by no means a bad thing. Besides, isn’t that how most steampunk tales are? I certainly would expect no less, at least.

So riddle me this, dear reader: why do YOU think COLUMNAE: A Past Under Construction hasn’t made it through Greenlight? The game won’t be out until 2018, but even so… how about visiting its Greenlight page and handing over a ‘yes’ if you like what you see? Remember: your vote could make all the difference!

Wraithkal

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
