Get It Right (or Don’t): MAGS January Is All About “Misunderstood Motives”

Adventure Game Studio. Easily my favorite engine, second only to SCUMM. So, MAGS! Unlike most jams, which tend to last from 72 hours to a full week with no engine restriction, this one spans a month and requires participants to use… wait for it… Adventure Game Studio! Who’s in the mood for creating some adventure games?

Happy 2018, one and all! Hope you made the transition safely, because a new year means a new month, which in turn means… a new MAGS! And this time it’s all about, well, misunderstood motives? Or to quote the announcement post, “Think of a villain, whose cunning strategy made him/her look like a people’s hero.” But as always, that’s merely an example – it’s up to you to interpret the theme however you see fit. Just don’t forget about the deadline, come end of the month.

But that’s MAGS January. Let’s look at the month prior first – a month which brings but a single entry. Then again, December is a busy month, ya know?

It’s a Bugs Life (Slasher)
Poor Bert Bug fell off the dog on the way to the new family home: a shed. Now Bert Bug has to find his way to their new home which means walking through a dangerous garden filled with assorted characters, some are friendly and some are not.
This is definitely a case where some invisibility would help!
Will Bert Bug make it home in one piece and be reunited with his family?

Wraithkal

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
