Air Control Jam: Time to Buzz the Tower as a Simulator Creator

Air Control Jam: Time to Buzz the Tower as a Simulator Creator

Between Surgeon Simulator to Farming Simulator, Euro Truck Simulator, and even Goat Simulator, it goes without saying that while all interesting games in their own right, this particular trend has gotten a bit out of hand. Especially if we browse the less interesting, amongst which we find utter rubbish like Air Control. In fact, Air Control Jam exists because of that very game, as it challenges developers to… create something better. Ha! Hardly the most difficult task ever.

At this rate, 2014 is gonna be labeled ‘Year of the Game Jam’ for sure, although every last one has had an interesting theme/hook so far, and this one is no exception. While I’m not a huge fan of the ‘simulator’ genre in general, I’m still looking forward to seeing exactly what developers can come up with sim-wise, given such a short amount of time – until June 30th, 2014, that is.

Create a simulator game of any type within the time frame: the Jam is inspired by Air Control but you are not limited to flight sims and can produce any simulator you like, the funnier and more absurd the better

“The funnier and more absurd the better”, eh? Well, there you have it: go nuts, create something crazy and by all means, think outside the box. If anything, this jam encourages you to do just that, being simulator-centric and all. So unless you’re already busy crafting interactive worlds for either Nar8 or the Glitch Jam, why not buzz the tower and participate in Air Control Jam?

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
