It’s one thing to die, but passing by someone else’s hand? Now that’s troublesome, and such is exactly what has transpired in Why Am I Dead At Sea, as foul play was involved in the protagonist’s untimely demise. Doesn’t mean he/she is gone though, because… well, ghosts are capable of possessing people. Time for a whodunit with an otherworldly twist!
Whenever you’re controlling someone in this pixellated mystery, not only are you able to investigate through basic questioning of everyone else on the ship, but mindreading is also on the menu. An ability which is bound to come in handy, as it seems everyone is keeping some sort of secret – even if they might not be directly tied to your murder.
You are on a boat at sea.
Also, you are dead.
People being people, conversations will differ, depending on whose body you’re currently hijacking when striking up a chat with certain individuals, turning the whole affair into a matching puzzle of sorts. Find out who, if any, can be trusted, using the knowledge acquired through the power of persuasion to crack the case wide open and solve this uncanny mystery. Or, since the game does feature multiple endings, you might actually stumble upon a less-than-happy one instead. But remember, no risk, no reward, and it’s not like you have anything to lose, things being the way they are…
Why Am I Dead At Sea is available for Windows and OS X from Steam, carrying a $9.99 price tag.
