The Greenlight Groove: ‘Chiptune Champion’, ‘Escape Machines’ and More

March 22nd, 2015 Wraithkal Feature

Many Steam users don’t check or even notice most Greenlight additions; there are simply too many, making it rather time-consuming. Hoping to alleviate this problem somewhat, I bring you The Greenlight Groove, featuring my recommendations from the past week!

Keep in mind that those listed below are by no means the only new arrivals, simply those I gave my ‘yes’ vote. With that in mind, would you kindly help make sure none end up as a potential Stuck In Greenlight Limbo candidate, by voting? Oh and do provide their creators with feedback. I’m sure they’ll appreciate anything, so long as it’s expressed properly (please, be nice).

RETSNOM

RETSNOM (@DASOM_JKApp)
You have a daughter. She is unfortunately infected by a zombie virus. The only way to save your daughter is to visit the future laboratory to steal the medicine that is expected to be made by your colleagues. But the future research team is hiding in the maze using the mirror. They decorated the maze using different features of the mirror in each level.

Hyper Syntax

Hyper Syntax
Hyper Syntax is a splitscreen multiplayer party game in which you and up to three others pilot space ships which leave light trails behind them. Hitting anything in the environment, including your own light trails, will destroy your ship. As you and others move throughout the level your trails alter the environment by creating new hazards and paths for all players. Along with this movement and maneuvering players also have an EMP burst to disorient nearby players. Using these tools players fight over the objective in a constantly evolving environment.

Escape Machines

Escape Machines (@DanPlanetTerra)
Escape Machines is an addictive Science Fiction single/multi-player/co-op adventure shooter in the near future! Artificial intellect and robots fight against their creators. You must take control of the robots and save people.

Chiptune Champion

Chiptune Champion
Transform your keyboard into an instrument and play along to the melody of catchy chiptunes in this addictive, musical rhythm game.

Tuk - Ruk

Tuk – Ruk
Use the unique skills of the 4 playable characters as you explore the jungle, tracking down the absent-minded Zooks and guiding them to safety. The jungle contains a variety of plants with special abilities and the Guz Guz, who don’t like it when you invade their space. Get the Zooks out and finish the level before nightfall, when the Wumpire Bats come out to play (they just love juicy TukRuk).

Doom & Destiny Advanced

Doom & Destiny Advanced (@ilBenjaminFicus)
Doom & Destiny Advanced is an epic old-school JRPG with a huge story, a ♥♥♥♥-load of content and an in-depth party customization! Something that recently you can’t always find in a 60$ AAA game 😉

Coregrounds

Coregrounds (@coregrounds)
Coregrounds is a free-to-play PVP tower defense game and the love child of the tower defense and MOBA genres, combining the core gameplay of a tower defense game with the competitive PVP-experience and the mechanics of a MOBA game.

Questria: Rise of the Robot Skullfaces

Questria: Rise of the Robot Skullfaces
Top down hack and slash! Players earn new spells from completing dungeons. Spells are powerful, but the only way to recover mana is for an ally to ‘Cheer’ at you. If everyone co-operates, the Robot Skullfaces don’t stand a chance! But special Skullface Champions and Bosses have some tricks up their robotic sleeves…

Blazefall Binalblades

Blazefall Binalblades (@enchantainment)
You are a Binalblade. You have trained for years to harness the power that either the Sun or the Moon provides. One half of a whole. Alone, you’re strong and possess a great strength. But you’re not alone. You have a partner, an opposite that compliments that which you don’t have. Use both the powers of day and night to navigate the deadly and corrupt locations in the land of Xenvola and find out the true reasons behind the dire imbalance that is plaguing the land.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
