This time the spotlight will be shining on You Are Not A Banana: Chapter 1, a parodic adventure that takes place in what could be just about anyone’s everyday (but hopefully isn’t). Let’s see if we can’t help it escape the cold emptiness of Greenlight limbo, eh?
You Are Not A Banana is set in everyday life and has a sprinkle of imagination and humor. The music, sound effects, visuals and gameplay seek to evoke nostalgia for the 80s and 90s. The story unfolds as a sequence of thought provoking events but I don’t want to ruin any surprises.
Having played through the game and given it a proper positive review earlier this year, needless to say, I’m surprised to find that You Are Not A Banana: Chapter 1 still haven’t made it through the system (Greenlight). In short, the game is a lighthearted, nonsensical adventure, strung together by mini-games and a rather original narrative, about a boy who just wants to buy some milk. If not for the fact that he was the protagonist of a video game, his quest may have been much simpler. But alas, that is not the case, and… well, let’s just say that the overarching plot is strange at best, albeit quite entertaining; even more so, for what should have been a brief shopping trip!
So riddle me this, dear reader: why is You Are Not A Banana: Chapter 1 still struggling to get through Greenlight? It’s available from Desura (Windows, Mac) for $1.99, so it’s not like you’d be voting on an unfinished project here. As such, might I recommend visiting its Greenlight page and handing over a ‘yes’, if you like what you see? Remember, your vote matters!
