[Update: Greenlit] Stuck In Greenlight Limbo: ‘The Loner’

[Update: Greenlit] Stuck In Greenlight Limbo: ‘The Loner’

This time the spotlight will be shining on The Loner, a dark tale about a guy who’s down on his luck big time, past about to catch up and such ‘fun’ stuff. As such… what say we help it escape the cold emptiness of Greenlight limbo, eh?

After years of gambling your past mistakes catch up to you. They took your girlfriend. They’ll take your life. How far will you go to save her ? It is a story about the hate, revenge, lonliness, attachment and money. The noir-New York and the hopeless, dirty art-style all combine to create a truly dark story.

Sheesh. I’ve had some really bad days, like most people, but this guy? Yikes. That said, while the depressing tone may turn some off from even considering the game, I’m honestly kinda interested by it. Helps that I also dig its art style, I suppose. Or maybe, at the end of the day, it’s the draw of experiencing a fictional tale about someone worse off than me (and worse than most, I should hope!). The whole ‘compared to this guy, my life’s pretty bloody awesome’, ya know? Whether or not the end result will turn out to be as compelling as I’m hoping… only time will tell, as the game is still under development. Oh and happy Friday the 13th, folks!

So riddle me this, dear reader: why is The Loner still struggling to get through Greenlight? It’s not out just yet, but should be soon-ish. Even so, how about visiting its Greenlight page and handing over a ‘yes’, if you like what you see? Remember, your vote matters!

Wraithkal

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
