[Update: Greenlit] Stuck In Greenlight Limbo: ‘Dreamgrid’

June 5th, 2015 Wraithkal Feature

This time the spotlight will be shining on Dreamgrid, a speedy runner – or speedrunner if you so prefer – full of fast-paced action, power-ups and… wait for it… RPG elements! What say we help it escape the cold emptiness of Greenlight limbo, eh?

The world is shrouded in darkness and it is up to you to bring light back to it. Only problem is that the world’s inhabitants are used to it and wont be offering you any help in any direct way. The main character, Anna, hopes that people will eventually appreciate the good she is doing.

Bet ya they won’t! Ha! Seriously though, as far as I can tell, the speedrunning aspect of Dreamgrid is entirely optional – a personal challenge for those interested in such. Meanwhile, the rest of us… I say we take a leisurely stroll through its world instead, wall-running, jumping, bouncing around, and exploring it at our own pace. Still have to watch out for hostiles though, and even more so during the boss fights, which apparently play out as scripted chase sequences. Groovy.

So riddle me this, dear reader: why is Dreamgrid still struggling to get through Greenlight? It isn’t out just yet but it should be at some point this year. As such, how about visiting its Greenlight page and handing over a ‘yes’, if you like what you see? Remember, your vote matters!

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
