I’ve often wondered if I was alone in thinking that the classic sport of golf was, quite frankly, a tad slow-paced. Earlier today I realized that’s not the case, as Speedy Golf adds a genuine sense of urgency, no matter your skill level with each club, requiring players to chase the ball after each shot. Gotta go fast!
Now, it may sound a tad silly, and based on the trailer below, well, there’s no denying that it really is. Perhaps even more than a tad. But at the same time, I have a feeling there’s a ton of fun to be had here, everyone making a mad dash to take their next shot; paragliders and other powerups providing an undeniable – however temporary – advantage. Sandpits and water hazards? Yeah, those are no longer mere annoyances, so much as things that could easily take away your lead. So aim carefully and run like the wind.

Ah, feeling competitive? Great, because Speedy Golf actually lets you bring up to 7 additional players online and up to 3 offline. I can only imagine the levels of chaos that’ll ensue once 8 people run around the same golf course, powerups hindering everyone else as much as they help. Chaos and joy, for if nothing else, laughter seems all but guaranteed within this crazy take on golf.
Speaking of crazy stuff, how about Leap Frog mode, which sees you playing cooperative golf, alternating shots? Or leaderboards, maybe a whole bunch of hats to unlock? Courses may be limited to 9 holes instead of the traditional 18, and while I’m not entirely certain as to why I very much doubt it’ll detract from the fun in any major way. Fore!
