The year is 1935 and someone has committed a murder on the SS Hook. Oh right, you did that. Better hope you’re able to convince everyone that you’re simply an innocent bystander and not the perpetrator of this terrible act. To make matters worse, the clock is literally ticking, as you only have eight hours before New York is reached, at which point you’ll either get to see the sights… or dream about them from behind bars. Welcome to Overboard!
To claim that your options are numerous would be an understatement, for much like in real life, everyone aboard the SS Hook will remember everything they see and hear, as well as everything you do. Whether you prey on people’s emotions through lies and seduction in order to get what you want or opt for a more hands-on approach by stealing or blackmailing, there will be consequences. Especially since not everyone roaming these decks are on your side. Some, in fact, are very much out to get you. Who? Maybe a little eavesdropping will go a long way to finding out. Or it could land you in a whole new heap of trouble.
You’ll need all your cunning, coercion and charisma to ensure that someone else takes the fall.
In other words, with this many options and (at first) unknown variables, something tells me a handful – if not more – of playthroughs are required to work out how to pull off the perfect crime, with neither evidence nor witness(es) left behind for someone to discover. Just remember, however, that you only have so much time to falsify facts, ensuring you’ll depart the ship a free woman. Where will you go? Who will you trust? And most importantly, how far will you go to clean up your little – ahem – mess? Doesn’t take much for your plan to go… Overboard!
