Opera GXC Eases Publishing From GameMaker Studio 2 to Opera GX

Opera GXC Eases Publishing From GameMaker Studio 2 to Opera GX

Yes, I know: you’re way more excited about the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Switch than Opera GX. You’re the only one, that’s for sure, but at the same time, you better believe there are a lot of Opera GX users out there. Thanks to the recently launched Opera GXC, publishing a GameMaker Studio 2 project to that platform is easier than ever, too. Groovy.

Although while 1-click publishing from GameMaker Studio 2 to Opera GX is undeniably cool – and no, I am not being sarcastic – the Community Showcase Competition is bound to be of interest to aspiring developers too. Aside from those without any interest in money. Well, the other 99.9% are going to want a slice of the $45,000 pie, anyway, divided evenly amongst 45 prizes across 9 categories (Best Action, Best Arcade, Best Platformer, Best Puzzle, Best Multiplayer, Best Art Direction, Best Soundtrack, Best Level Design, and Most Engaging).

“With our competition, we want to encourage all the creators from the GameMaker community to submit their work and become the first ones to reach Opera GX users through the GXC platform,” said GameMaker Studio 2 CTO, Russell Kay.

Rules? Uh, well… tweaking your game during the competition is allowed, and… as far as I can tell, that’s all there is. Oh right, October 11 is the submission deadline, so better get to it as that leaves a meager 5 days at the time of writing. As such, I do apologize for not getting around to covering this sooner. There should still be more than enough time, however, so… off ya go!

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
