Lots of Interactive Fiction to Play (and Rate) in the 27th ‘IFComp’

Lots of Interactive Fiction to Play (and Rate) in the 27th ‘IFComp’

Twenty-seven years. Goodness, IFComp has almost been around longer than me (not really)! That’s a lot of interactive fiction, and you better believe this latest iteration is overflowing with good stuff. Choose wisely and judge accordingly, for it is time to play and rate/vote.

But first… a round of applause for the seventy-one(!) entries, and across a multitude of genres too. No price tag or silly DRM attached either, so how about simply jumping right in? Oh, and don’t forget to pass judgment after experiencing such ever-wondrous tales of interactive fictive worlds. Heck, go crazy and play… them all! ALL OF THEM! YEAH! Ahem.

Wait, no. Don’t. Trust me. That’d be much too daunting, even for the most dedicated IF fan. Thankfully, the only requirement to have your vote validated is to play a grand total of five entries. Before November 15. Who knows what hidden gem(s) one might uncover? Won’t know unless you give it/them a go, so get to it! Pretty please?

Be sure to read up on the rules before you jump in, drooling over all those fancy tales of choice-driven narration, however, as… well, this year saw some changes. So even if you’re a seasoned IFComp veteran, might do you well to give them a go-over still.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
