‘Megabyte Punch’ Jumps, Kicks and Punches From Alpha to Beta

‘Megabyte Punch’ Jumps, Kicks and Punches From Alpha to Beta

If I had to describe Megabyte Punch in a single sentence, it’d be something along the lines of “Super Smash Bros. with robots and a wealth of customization options, parts to attach and abilities to acquire”. Sounds awesome, right? Well, it is! We’ve got enough Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Tekken and Virtua Fighter games already – we need more robot vs. robot fighters!

Now, I’m obviously not going to list every single new thing in the first beta update for Megabyte Punch, but one noteworthy change is that most shops have had their priced reduced by 50% (yay, less time spent gathering bits). Since you’ll be spending more time fighting than shopping (I hope?), new music has been added to some fights, to accompany the sounds of kicks and punches flying through the air. And to help ensure your survival, the damage taken when your shield breaks have been lowered. Three additional abilities also joined the fight, quite literally, with this update: Tornado, Pound and Virus Slice – sounds painful! You can also move while using your shield mid-air now, which is bound to make players re-think their strategies… and much more.

The complete changelog can be found on its Desura page, where the game can also be purchased and the demo downloaded. Don’t forget to report any issues, whether they be balance related or bugs, in the feedback forum and hey –  Greenlight!

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
