So, the apocalypse. As we all know, that pesky thing is… all about zombies. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Especially not the tower guard in Hope; or How We Survived, as I’m sure he’s got all kinds of other tales about the end of the world. You’re bound to hear them all, or most of them at least, too, seeing how he’s a very chatty fella – whenever he’s not busy blasting all kinds of nasty things to keep all the survivors alive. Somehow. Boom!
Point, click, and stuff gets blasted. Or… you strike up a conversation. Depending on the situation. Both need to be managed carefully, however, as there is no talking to the guard while a threat is in the vicinity. Doesn’t matter if it’s slowly shambling towards the perimeter, as zombies have a tendency to do, or rapidly approaching from the sky – if you gotta shoot, shoot, don’t talk! (Yes, I am going to completely ignore that the game, based on the trailer below, doesn’t even let you get chatty while shooting.)
It’s not glamorous or fun but it’s work that needs doing and you’re glad to be helping.
Oh, and it ain’t just about shooting and random chatter either. Depending on the dialogue choices made, things could turn out… very differently. Perhaps no one will actually be alive by the time the credits roll, and it’ll be all your fault – because you said the wrong thing to the guard! That’ll teach you to treat the one person standing between you and total annihilation with respect. Or something. I may be exaggerating and/or completely wrong there, as I have yet to play Hope; or How We Survived. Multiple endings are totally a thing, though. Much like the zombies.
Hope; or How We Survived is available on Steam, carrying a $4.99 price tag.
