Yay, Greenlight! Groupees sure got an odd mix going with this one, with two recent releases – Heroes of a Broken Land and Trace Vector – stealing the spotlight (in my opinion). But they have been joined by six other games, all of which certainly look interesting. Are they though? See, that is the question… picking up the bundle might get ya the answer! Hint hint.
Remember Build A Greenlight 4? Probably not, as it ran way back in October of 2013. Well… anyway, the rules are (relatively) simple: $1 for four games, the price then goes up with each additional title added, with the entire lot setting ya back $2. Oh and once unlocked, three bonus extras will be included, the first of which is Battlepaths. Neat, eh? You better believe it. Oh, remember to vote, or else! Now, onto the games.
Paper Dungeons (Windows – Desura) Greenlight
Paper Dungeons is a 2D Puzzle RPG, boosted by online content. With the ability to create and share online your own levels, you are up for an infinite replay value. The game is visualized as a classic tabletop board game structured like a dungeon crawling game with a puzzle component. You can destroy walls and auto-heal as you uncover new dungeon tiles, with 3 different and originals gameplays: ADVENTURE, PUZZLE and ROGUE.
Savage: The Shard of Gosen [alpha] (Windows – DRM-free) Greenlight
Savage: The Shard of Gosen is a 2D action/platforming adventure with a few RPG elements which takes place in the brutal world of Lor, a fantasy setting of my own creation. The mood and atmosphere are inspired by the Conan stories by Robert E. Howard, the Milton Bradley board game Hero Quest, and the Dungeons and Dragons setting, Dark Sun. Not to mention a healthy (unhealthy?) dose of my fetish for ’80s barbarian flicks.
Monster Challenge Circus (Windows – DRM-free) Greenlight
You are Dehon, Great Disciple of the Caste of the 40 000 Moons. You have slayed and then devoured your brothers because they lacked courage in front of the mysterious Evil that decimated your universe. Bravely fighting him in your fortress temple, you gradually lost your mind, and in a moment of lucidity you took your own life. Your body and soul drifted through the spirals of time, going back to the origin of everything.
Drive to Hell (Windows, Mac – Desura) Greenlight
Drive to Hell is an action-packed shooter where you’ll take a ride through an army of monsters to exact revenge on the Demon King for destroying your favorite dive bar. Enemies assault from all sides, each with it’s own special personality and attack style. To take them down, you’ll have access to many weapons and items as well as unique vehicles, special abilities and more!
Trace Vector (Windows – Desura) Greenlight
Trace Vector plays like an easy to learn, hard to master, game of the golden age of the 80′s video arcades. Race your space ship through each geometric level, grabbing extra fuel cells along the way. Reach a viable goal to shatter the networks’ hold on your ship and increase your speed. Simple controls keep you focused on navigating the increasingly complex webs at ever increasing speeds. Collect fuel cells and warp time to assist in the precision maneuvering needed to ace a level! Warping time quickly exhausts precious fuel. If you deplete your fuel and crash, it’s game over.
Heroes of a Broken Land (Windows, Mac, Linux – Desura) Greenlight
Heroes of a Broken Land combines a town management with first-person dungeon crawling action. You will explore a world map, exploring and searching for new treasure and dungeons. Entering a dungeon will switch to a first person perspective where your party must fight monsters and evade traps in order to find treasure. Each world and every dungeon is unqiue – procedurally generated – so you never know what to expect.
Spice Road (Windows – Desura) Greenlight
You are a colonial governor in the 18th Century, building a town on the Spice Road in a time of war and discovery. More than spice travels your roads – musket armies, philosophies, and power plays that span the globe are at your control. From palace to monastry, trade post to smugglers den – your town is worthless without the nobles, monks, merchants and rogues that chose to live in it – and keeping them all happy at the same time is never simple.
Magicians and Looters (Windows – Desura) Greenlight
You play as three sociopathic apprentices on a rescue mission to save their wizard from certain doom. Explore a vast mountain range, vast forests, vast caverns, vast ancient ruins, vast castles, and a vast underground city.
Don’t forget that Groupees’ Build A Greenlight 5 will only be available for a little less than seven days, so don’t wait too long; unless you enjoy paying full price for indie games, that is. Nothing wrong with that, but since a bundle has been made available and all – might as well, right?
