Pay-What-You-Want for the ‘Free Visual Novels’ Bundle

Pay-What-You-Want for the ‘Free Visual Novels’ Bundle

Indie game bundles worth writing about are pretty rare these days. Even more so, the kind that features nothing but visual novels, like this one, which is simply titled Free Visual Novels. Oh, and it’s free. Just making sure everyone got that part. Kinda important.

Anyway, visual novels, and twenty of them no less, for free! I mean, sure, they were all free/pay-what-you-want before this bundle was even an idea, but does that really matter, in the grand scheme of things? Hardly. Look at it this way: would you have come across more than a few of these, at most, on your own? Considering the sheer amount of content released on itch.io every single day… rather unlikely. So in that way, this is more about exposure than anything else, really – a way to help fifteen creators get their content out there, maybe even make a buck or two in the process. Good stuff.

A bundle of free visual novels made by passionate developers from DevTalk, a large indie visual novel development community!

Some came to be during game jams and as such, are relatively short, while others seemingly spin a tale of an impressive length given the lack of a price tag. Are they all great? Hard to say. Taste is after all very subjectiv– alright, fine, I simply haven’t gotten around to playing them just yet. I will though, and before the bundle has run its course too, which is in… oh goodness, almost a full year! Better hurry and grab it while it’s still around. No, really.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
