Webber’s Time for a ‘Don’t Starve Together’ Character Refresh is Upon Us

Webber’s Time for a ‘Don’t Starve Together’ Character Refresh is Upon Us

Webber. Finally. Sure, it’s been a while since I last played Klei’s fantastic multiplayer survival horror, Don’t Starve Together, but let me tell ya, the most fun I had was definitely as this arachnid-ish character. Befriending spiders while everyone else fled at the sight of my newly acquired BFFs was just so – oh. Right. Character refresh. Okay. Let’s see what’s new and different in this recent update.

Well, for starters, Webber can now craft a Webby Whistle for an easier time controlling his Spiders, which is guaranteed to be absolutely vital long-term. That’s not all either: a Shoo Box to dismiss following spiders/pacify attacking ones, the Healing Glop, an AoE healing item for Spiders, and… wait, could it be?

It could! It is! Den Decorating Set! Put this on a Spider Den and Spiders in range will become friendly towards non-Webber players too. Oh my goodness. This combined with the Webby Whistle is going to make Webber significantly easier to, you know, not upset everyone when his Spiders come marchin’ in. Or something along those webby lines.

Listen well children, and mind the warnings of your parents… naughtiness always comes back to bite you in the end.

Ah, a bunch of Spider changes too it seems, the by far most important being that the little buggers can now wear hats! I mean, if not for the addition of Nurse Spiders. Because players are totally going to flock to arachnid medics. Yeah. Wait, what?

Last but by no means least, as always, new skins, streaming drops, bug fixes, and… hints at what the future hold, which apparently includes itsy-bitsy water spiders. Huh.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
