‘Baba Is You’ Getting 250+ New Puzzles, Level Editor, Items, More… Soon

‘Baba Is You’ Getting 250+ New Puzzles, Level Editor, Items, More… Soon

It’s been a long time coming and it’s not quite here yet, but… in mere days, phenomenal puzzler, Baba Is You, will finally be getting its long-awaited level editor. That’s not all either, as this update – aptly titled Baba Make Level – also adds an insane amount of new puzzles, and… goodness me, there’s so much!

But before we get to what else is coming on November 17th, to both the PC, Mac, Linux, and Switch version of Baba Is You, I feel now might be a good time to remind everyone that I’m absolutely dreadful at puzzle games. My reason for bringing that up in this context is that, well, I still absolutely love this one. Not as something I’m likely to ever finish, mind you, so much as a genuinely unique, groovy, and inspiring game – one that’s pretty much the textbook definition of “easy to learn, near-impossible to master”. Fantastic stuff.

So, with that out of the way, let’s see… oh, custom levels can be shared online – after its creator has managed to beat it (much like in, say, Super Mario Maker 2). And with the level editor available following this update, the addition of new objects, art, music, and effects, makes perfect sense. Those more interested in playing than creating are in for a treat too, with 250+ new puzzles and a ‘Featured levels’ list to, I’m guessing, help make browsing available creations easier. Ah, and a bunch of tweaks, bug fixes, as well as some polish. Groovy.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
