At a Glance: ‘INDIE Live Expo Winter 2021’ Reveals and Award Winners

More than 500 titles were featured during INDIE Live Expo Winter 2021 alongside the 2nd annual INDIE Live Expo Awards, which is an absolutely staggering amount, no matter how you look at it. Them. The games. The show. Both? Right. Let’s move on.

As I’m sure most of you are here for the reveals… let’s start with the award winners!

  • INDIE Live Expo Awards Grand Prize
    Road 96
  • Most Stream-friendly Game Award
    Among Us
  • Best Characters Award
    Chicory: A Colorful Tale
  • Best “Game Feel” Award
    Death’s Door
  • Theme of the Year Award
    Road 96
  • Rules of Play Award
    Before Your Eyes
  • Local Cultural Representation Award
    Word Game

Still here? Awesome. How about those reveals, then? Well, those familiar with the Persona franchise might recognize the name Shoji Meguro as the sound director of the popular series… although now it seems he’s decided to try making games instead (while still composing), starting with the upcoming stealth RPG, Guns Undarkness. Interesting stuff. Speaking of RPGs, how about Path of the Abyss which is scheduled for launch this December, or some fast-paced first-person shooting in Turbo Overkill? That’s not all either, although instead of listing more, I’d rather simply point to this website, which contains a complete list of games featured during INDIE Live Expo Winter 2021.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
