September? October? Hmm… those have both come and gone. Ah, November. We’re in November, which is also when this year’s XYZZY Awards kick off, meaning… it’s time to once more celebrate all things interactive fiction! All things. Everything. From ‘best story’ to ‘best NPC’, and even ‘best use of innovation’. Much awesomeness this year, across a staggering 328 pieces/stories. That’s a lot, and I would not have it any other way!
Nothing has changed in terms of categories, which is good because they’re groovy enough as is! Each of the thirteen makes perfect sense for the media too, and some are undeniably more prestigious than the rest. Even so, I’d be absolutely thrilled to even end up nominated in just one of them, as that would mean someone thinks the piece of interactive fiction I created was ‘best’… something. Not that I have actually finished one, but still – do not underestimate the importance of something like this, as recognition – especially in a long-running awards series such as this – is incredibly important, and not just for the content creators either.
Now, seeing how 328 is quite a lot, even for those who claim to not have need of this thing called sleep, simply play as many as you can muster, vote, and that’ll do. But before you get to any of that fun stuff, there are a few things to take care of: either create an account or login if you already have one, after which, well, did I mention the voting?
Just keep in mind that this first round of voting will end on December 3rd. Best of luck to all participants; newcomers and veterans alike. May your STAMINA branching narrative never fail!
