Ever wanted to be a video game protagonist? Well, if you ask the patrons of The Six Pint Inn, it’s not worth it. Not even remotely, each of this particular lot weighed down by a dark past. Something they just want to forget. But alas, this place has a way of bringing back old memories. Not good, and it gets even worse: apparently… one (or more) of them is planning a murder! Cue dramatic music and flashbacks aplenty, in The Hex.
So, six patrons/cast-aside video game protagonists – that leaves us with six possible killers. But who among them is in fact the would-be murderer? Is it the fighter? The platformer? The space marine? Perhaps the sorceress? Could also be the fella with a question mark, or someone else entirely! The only way to find out is to delve deeply into their memories, to explore their dark past, embarking on a journey through that which they would prefer simply to be forgotten.
In a creaky old tavern, in a forgotten corner of the video game universe, a storm is raging. The barkeep gets a patchy phone call. It’s hard to tell what the caller is saying, but this much is clear: someone in The Six Pint Inn is planning a murder.
Oh, and each flashback plays out in a specific genre – or genres, rather. Although… a fighter doing platforming and a space marine forced to deal with magic? Hardly. More like, multiple protagonists teaming up at certain points throughout the story, their combined strength(s) and weakness(es) the only way to progress the plot, and of course, figure out what that mysterious call was all about. Before it’s too late. Much too late.
The Hex is available on Steam, carrying a $9.99 price tag.
