It’s a fact that many Steam users don’t check or even notice most Greenlight additions. There are simply too many, making it rather time-consuming. Hoping to alleviate this problem somewhat, I bring you The Greenlight Groove, featuring my recommendations from the past week!
Keep in mind that those listed below are by no means the only new arrivals, simply those I gave my ‘yes’ vote. With that in mind, would you kindly help make sure none end up as a potential Stuck In Greenlight Limbo candidate, by voting? Oh and do provide their creators with feedback. I’m sure they’ll appreciate anything, as long as it’s expressed properly (please, be nice).
The Occult Chronicles
The Occult Chronicles is a strategy game of adventure and exploration. Games usually take just a few hours to complete and dying a horrible death is all part of the experience. You will quickly get a feel for how far you can push your luck and often you will still push it too far because you think that snake eyes will never happen to you. Sometimes you’ll just run into some plain bad luck and find your desiccated bones littering a shabby corner of some forlorn mansion. So you’ll need to master the ability of knowing when to hold them, when to fold them and when to run away in stark raving terror. All that matters is that you complete your mission and make it out alive….or not.
desolate (@InkBitCo)
In the beginning of the game shadowy figures have invaded your village and you must sacrifice your friends and family to them in order to escape. After realising what you’ve done wrong you need to fix the mistakes you’ve made. But not all mistakes can be fixed by apologising. Sometimes change is needed, but reluctantly sought. Sooner or later you will have to face your inner shadows and your inner self to change for the better.
Poncho, an open world Puzzle Platformer (@DanHayesGamer)
Humanity has been extinct for centuries, leaving their robotic creations behind to fend for themselves. These robots have formed tribes and communities of their own, trying to make a way of life without purpose now their masters are gone. On your journey, you will have to make some hard choices and ultimately decide the fate of humankind. With multiple areas and paths to explore, you’ll never be able to see everything in a single play through. Poncho is about making you feel like a kid again, exploring outside and looking under rocks to see what you find.
CodeSpells (@codespells)
When we were young, wizards like Gandalf and Dumbledore struck a chord in our minds. We spent hours pretending to be wizards and casting epic imaginary spells. Now, we want to bring that kind of creative freedom to video games. Instead of giving the player pre-packaged spells, CodeSpells allows you to craft your own magical spells. It’s the ultimate spellcrafting sandbox.
Iris Synthesis
In Iris Synthesis, an indie arcade action puzzle game, the Eye challenges you to predict. In fact, the Eye knows that a certain shape will form somewhere soon and it is up to you to predict which blocks will form the shape. Sounds simple? Then sharpen your eyesight, fire up your motion prediction skills and beat the Eye!
Cube and Me
As Lyle, you will be tasked with raising your new friends, maintaining your job, and discovering the mystery behind the cubes. You will visit randomly generated dungeons spread across the world. The dungeons will be filled with treasures and surprises, though you’ll need to risk the lives of your cube friends to explore them. It is up to you to plan and strategize how to lead your pets to success.
Creepy Castle (@dopterra)
Creepy Castle is an exploratory sidescrolling RPG about a moth in a castle. It’s a fresh adventure with the look of a classic, but don’t let the retro paintjob fool you; this is a new-school experience. Traditional turn-based combat meets an energetic twist in the form of Duels, where instead of taking turns doling out damage, you are offered a chance to score free hits on your opponent if you perform excellently… but don’t let your guard down, or you might find yourself pummeled!
Bloo Kid 2
Bloo Kid 2 is a classic 2D retro-style platformer experience with lovely designed pixel-graphics and a full chiptune soundtrack. Run, jump and swim your way through four huge worlds with nine levels each. Master brutal bossfights and discover lots of secrets in the world of Bloo Kid 2.
Celestial Command
Celestial Command is a realistic sandbox space game which unites real space flights with real orbital mechanics and fun of classic space action games.
Memory of a Broken Dimension (@xra)
The emulator of an obscure research system is spreading across the internet, its origin unknown. Following a trail of files littering the RELICS virtual desktop, you find a 3D surveying tool and trespass into the remains of its data; a fragmented world sector hanging within a frozen data stream. But when the stream begins to thaw, no system can handle this overflow…
Paradigm
Paradigm’s unfortunate life begins at DUPA genetics, a company who makes it’s millions by growing and selling prodigy children to the rich and powerful who don’t want to leave their inheritance to their poor excuse for biological children.
Battle Brothers (@OverhypeStudios)
Battle Brothers is a turn based strategy RPG mix wherein you lead a band of mercenaries in a medieval fantasy world on the hunt for coin, fame and legendary artifacts. The gameplay is inspired by such classics as X-Com: UFO Defense and Jagged Alliance.
They Need To Be Fed – Ultimate (@BitAteBit)
They Need To Be Fed is a straight-forward 2D platformer game, with a twist. You can’t fall to your death per se, because you’ll always be pulled in by a nearby object’s gravity. But that doesn’t mean you won’t be challenged; hazards come by way of….other things. Gravity is one of your few friends, in fact!
“They Need To Be Fed” was originally released for mobile, in 3 parts. The “Ultimate Edition” puts them all together for the first time, on PC & Mac.
