Control has been lost and it’s up to YOU to restore it! Something along those lines, at least. Not enough story beats? Well, I think that’s as deep as it gets in Raimodula, although that’s fine in an arcade platformer such as this, what with fast-paced gameplay and action prioritized and all.
That and the option to bring a friend along for the ride spanning 115 “randomly selected and arranged” areas across 7 stages filled with enemies and chips to unlock for use on future playthroughs. Oh, and the second character isn’t simply a reskinned clone of player one either; exactly how “distinct” the two are remains to be seen.
Can you reach 100%?
In case your eyes started rolling upon reading that bit about future playthroughs, I mean, it is billed as an arcade game filled with randomized elements: progression, areas, and… likely other things, too. All elements commonly found in games where a single playthrough is just the beginning, the introduction to the complete experience, as it were. There is, however, also Speedrun mode for those more interested in honing their skills while knowing the lay of the land, in favour of being constantly surprised. A bit like doing a seeded run in other titles, versus simply starting a new, randomized game.
Wait, did I mention you only have one life? Well, off you go, running, gunning, and weapon comboing, to blast that “army of modular enemies” to absolute smithereens!
Raimodula is available on Steam, for $9.99.
