Don’t let the title fool you. We are most certainly still only in July, meaning the spookiest time of year is a handful of months away yet. That means you have ample time to send in your submission and participate in Queer Halloween Stories Bundle 2023!
So, first things first: those familiar with game jams have likely noticed a word oddly missing from Queer Halloween Stories Bundle 2023. Well, that’s because, much like, say, Yuri Game Jam, this one isn’t only about games. I mean, physical and digital game submissions are allowed, of course, but books/novels/zines, comics, and even bonus content for completed works – it’s all good, and up to three projects can be submitted, too.
That is to say, as long as the lead developer and/or team(s) who made the game not only identifies as queer but is also 18 years old. Note that stolen assets or NFTs, among other things, are not allowed. No exceptions. NSFW content is, however, when tagged accordingly. Actually, you should probably just read the rules on the jam page yourself as there are quite a few… and, well, they’re important, you know?
We prefer projects that contain queer characters, themes, and/or narratives, but this is not a strict requirement.
Which leaves… let’s see… ah, judging! See, in order for submissions to be approved, they must meet a minimum amount of approvals by the moderation team. This sounds perfectly reasonable to me, as otherwise, we could very easily end up with a trainwreck of a bundle containing absolute rubbish. Might be quite a bit of work for those involved, but it’s undeniably worth the effort.
Now, as far as the price tag goes, the plan seems to be hosting a $60 Edition and a $10 Pay-What-You-Can Edition. Much like a certain other queer bundle. Submission deadline? Why, you have until August 24, and the bundle itself is scheduled to run from October 1 to November 1. Good stuff.
