Alright. It’s that time of year again, except. Wait. Pride Month is still a few months away. Ah, even so, on a most certainly related note, much like last year, the genuinely grand and groovy Queer Games Bundle has been announced. In other words, submissions are open for Queer Games Bundle 2023!
For those unfamiliar with the Queer Games Bundle (2022 version), it’s a collaborative initiative created to support as many artists/game devs/content creators who identify as queer as humanly possible, shifting the focus from the project itself to those behind the project. In other words, queer content is not required for a submission to be legit, as the bundle is about creators who identify as queer more than their creations.
Quite a lovely change from how most bundles of a similar nature handle things, as those tend to limit participants to a single aspect of the spectrum and/or focus exclusively on game content instead of those that made them.
We are trying to be inclusive but you can submit anything as long as it is something people can enjoy, this could be a game, music, zines, music, books, or anything else such as a tool or art assets.
Time for the nitty-gritty: The Queer Games Bundle 2023 is scheduled to run the month of June (and a bite of July) on itch.io, and “Funds are distributed equally between all participants who opt-in to receiving funding from the bundle.”. One thing to keep in mind, as this is a pretty significant change: participants for the 2023 edition must be at least 18 years old.
Are you still interested? Awesome! The submission deadline is April 23, so if you believe this might interest you… well, what are you waiting for? Oh, and might I ask you to help get the word out about the bundle? Pretty please?
