PAX East 2023’s PAX Rising Showcase is Open for Submissions

PAX East 2023’s PAX Rising Showcase is Open for Submissions

As the end of another year draws ever closer, so too does the time… wait. I forgot where I was going with that, so here’s the important part: PAX Rising Showcase 2023 is open for submissions! If it’s anything like previous years, it’ll be a fierce, heated competition, but imagine joining the ranks of those select few. Now, while you’re busy doing that, be sure to continue reading for more details.

But what is this PAX Rising Showcase thing? Ah, so glad you asked! Even though you probably didn’t. I’ll likely never know though, so let’s quickly move on to the answer instead. To quote the PAX Rising Showcase page, it is “an intensely curated collection of games selected by the PAX Team and highlighted on the show floor”. Sounds pretty sweet to me, even if I have never actually attended PAX. Would be nice though. Anyway, submissions are open until January 11th, 2023, although there are a few things to take into consideration before even considering potentially submitting your game.

PAX Team will pick our favorites with an eye for content spread out across genres.

So, the process for potentially ending up selected for the PAX Rising Showcase starts with… the making of a video. Of your game that is, complete with commentary. 5-10 minutes in length, and that’s it. For the first step. One thing to keep in mind is that your team must be relatively small – ie. no more than 10 people – and traditional publisher arrangements are out of the question. Completely. Oh, also, the game should be in a playable state by PAX East 2023, which takes place between March 23 and March 26, 2023. That last part is really important since those picked will be granted “free booth space and everything you need to demo your game”.

Other bits and bobs do apply, too, but I do not feel the need to recap everything here – so you’re just gonna have to hit the submission page for PAX Rising Showcase 2023 yourself, and see what’s what. Best of luck, should you choose to submit your game.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
