No, you’re not dreaming: NaraScope is happening this year, and something tells me it’s going to be bigger and better than ever. Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my behalf. Whatever ends up happening though, it’s great to witness the return of one of all too few conferences celebrating narrative games. Oh, and talk submissions are open. Right now. Go go go!
So, why am I acting all excited and giddy about an event that, for all intents and purposes, has been a yearly thing for a while now? Well, NaraScope did skip 2021 for several reasons, and unsurprisingly, this left many wondering whether that would be it. No more NarraScope. Fortunately, that did not turn out to be the case, even if – much like the 2020 iteration – NarraScope 2022 will be a virtual (ie. online) event, “out of an abundance of concern for the safety and security of our guests and our commitment to making NarraScope as accessible to as wide a swath of attendees as possible”. Solid choice.
NarraScope 2022 is a free, online-only event that supports interactive narrative, adventure games, and interactive fiction by bringing together writers, developers, and players.
When? From 30-31 July 2022. Where? Good question, although I suppose their Discord might be the place to go for more details. Oh, speaking of… how about submitting a talk to NarraScope 2022? Just make sure you do it prior to 22 April 2022, and expect to hear back by 6 May 2022. I know, so many dates to keep track of! If only calendars were available on virtually every device with a screen in 2022.
