Celebrate 13+ Years of Ludum Dare With MiniLD #60 This Weekend (June 27-29)

Celebrate 13+ Years of Ludum Dare With MiniLD #60 This Weekend (June 27-29)

As Tim Bumpus so accurately writes, Ludum Dare has been around for a long time. A very long time in fact (more than thirteen years!), so let’s face it – a celebration of all things Ludum Dare is certainly in order and what better way to do so than with the 60th MiniLD?

What, the theme? Participant’s choice, from any past Ludum Dare! If that doesn’t give you a broad range to pick from, I don’t know what does, with everything from 30th Connected Worlds to 23’s Tiny World and even further back, to 13’s Roads. Intriguing, eh? I’d certainly like to think so, even though I won’t be participating.

Oh, and in case you’re a Ludum Dare veteran, there’s also a ‘challenge theme’, which is – word for word – “What has Ludum Dare meant to you?”. What indeed. In my case, that’d be… a lot of really interesting games (and jams) to cover (good luck expressing that in the form of a game, however).

Right. Anyway, a quick recap: the official start and end dates are as follows – June 27 through June 29, although you can start as soon as you want, this being a MiniLD, not a regular LD. Just remember to play by the rules, especially since they’re not exactly super strict or complicated, eh? Here’s to a fun MiniLD #60 and of course, many more main events!

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
