MAGS March: Because “Size Matters” When Creating a New AGS Game

MAGS March: Because “Size Matters” When Creating a New AGS Game

Adventure Game Studio. Easily my favorite engine, second only to SCUMM. So, MAGS! Unlike most jams, which tend to last from 72 hours to a full week with no engine restriction, this one spans a month and requires participants to use… wait for it… Adventure Game Studio! Who’s in the mood for creating some adventure games?

Shrink! Grow! Expand! Contract! It’s that time of the month again for game devs of all ages, nationalities and skill levels, for MAGS March is here. And with it, a challenge of sorts, to show exactly why / how size matters in game form, with Adventure Game Studio as the engine of choice. Bet ya we’ll see at least one Honey, I Shrunk the Kids parody title at the end of this one. Or perhaps we’ll be fortunate enough to experience something less obvious? Either way… time to get creative!

Oh, and as always, entries from the month prior have been listed below.

The Adventure of the Hero (MAGS)

The Adventure of the Hero (Danvzare)
A great hero has been sent on a quest to defeat an evil witch, but things soon go awry when a time portal into the future is opened up.
Join the hero as he defeats a witch, gives incredibly life changing career advice, makes alcohol, and saves all of time and space!

Memories Fade (MAGS)

Memories Fade (Riaise)
After the loss of his beloved wife, an old man seems to be forgetting her. With the help of an old photo, can his son remind him of the good times they once had?

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
