Buckle Up, Aspiring Gamedev Heroes: MAGS June is All About a Grand “Rescue”

Adventure Game Studio. Easily my favorite engine, second only to SCUMM. So, MAGS! Unlike most jams, which tend to last from 72 hours to a full week with no engine restriction, this one spans a month and requires participants to use… wait for it… Adventure Game Studio! Who’s in the mood for creating some adventure games?

Everyday heroes are needed for this – or next, I suppose, as this one’s getting an early start – month’s MAGS jam, because… well… it’s time to go on the rescue! Doesn’t matter who, or what, you end up saving in that lovely new game, so long as it’s something. Or other. Living, dead, inanimate, virtual – anything goes. Key word here is ‘rescue‘, and that’s it. So fire up Adventure Game Studio and get to game making!

It could be rescuing anything from Grandma’s secret Apple pie recipe that has accidentally gone out with the trash to saving refugees from a war-torn location. Maybe even rescuing your job or pride…

As for the month prior… well, no submissions yet. Hopefully something will show up in time. Before time is up. Because deadlines.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
