Ever been told how “the future is what you make of it”, “sky’s the limit”, or “you can do anything you set your mind to”? Well, in Kandria, that’s actually the case, as in this game, nothing is going to stop you from going wherever you want… from the very beginning. Except maybe your own skill level. But hey, practice makes perfect. Or so they say. A little fishing might go a long way too.
That last bit? Yup, you can fish in this game, and it’s supposedly quite a neat way to make a profit. For those with an interest in that kind of thing. Elsewhere, or right around the corner rather, conflict is brewing in the valley as two of the remaining factions are, well, not exactly seeing eye to eye. Highly doubtful that the catch-of-the-day is going to help them, but you never know, right?
Anyway, in case you haven’t picked up on that by now, putting your sword-turned-fishing-rod to good use in this pixelated platformer is not a bad idea at all, although even with that in mind – or hand(s) – you still won’t be able to save the world without help. So get out there and explore, because several dozen quests await across 2’100×1’200m of land. Some with walls covered in deadly spikes, others (probably) filled with seemingly bottomless pits, and I’d be surprised if Shirakumo Games actually don’t have at least a few surprises in store for eager explorers.
Then, once you’ve had your fill of this new yet-to-be-fully-shaped world/future, it’s time to get creative. By which I mean that Kandria comes with an integrated editor, all set to share whatever you end up making with the community. Small or large, good or bad – doesn’t matter. Make something and… share it!
Kandria is available on Steam, itch.io, and Xsolla, for $20.
