‘inkJam 2021′ Will Return This Fall With a Weekend of Interactive Fiction Jammin’ Fun

Oh! Oh! It’s almost time for the fourth(!) inkJam. Excited yet? Well, you should be: a whole weekend of interactive fiction fun awaits – at least for those interested in creating something. The rest of us will just have to wait patiently until the end of inkJam 2021 to have our fun with all the glorious new choice-driven tales. Mark my words, it is going to be awesome.

Theme? Why do people automatically assume game jams… oh alright, there’ll be a theme for inkJam 2021, but it won’t be revealed until the jam starts – for obvious reasons. In the meantime, you may want to brush up on your ink knowledge, maybe even create some samples to get back into the groove if you’re new and/or never dabbled in this particular language. Oh, and you’re free to use any engine/platform for your creation, as long as ink is part of it… somehow. Doesn’t even have to be in English and the only real no-no’s are “hateful comments, language or visuals”. That’s about it.

What is ink?
It’s an open source narrative scripting language you can use in a variety of environments and game engines to create games with highly branching stories, interactive fiction, and… basically anything with text in it.

Wait, no, just a bit more: inkJam 2021 will run from August 27th, 2021 at 9:00 PM to August 30th, 2021 at 9:00 PM. So make sure you’re ready to get interactive. With fiction. Yeah!

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
