The 29th ‘IFComp’ Has Interactive Fiction to Play (and Rate)

October 3rd, 2023 Wraithkal News

Hard to believe that IFComp has been a thing for nearly thirty years now. Thirty! Wow. It’s only getting better each year iteration, too, and… oh, time to play and rate/vote on the 29th iteration, where 70+ pieces of interactive fiction await! Choose wisely and judge accordingly.

But first, a round of applause for the seventy-five(!) entries (four more than last year), and across a multitude of genres, the lot. No price tag or DRM either, so how about simply jumping right in? Don’t forget to judge after experiencing such ever-wondrous tales of interactive fictive worlds.

Feel like taking on the gargantuan task of playing every last one? Probably not a good idea. Unless you really want to. Do you want to? Oh, you’re awesome. Only a grand total of five entries need playing to have your vote validated, though. Do keep that in mind. Oh, and it must be done prior to November 15. Ah, who knows what hidden gem(s) one might uncover? Well, you’ll never know unless you dive right in, so get to it! Pretty please?

Be sure to read up on the rules before you jump in. Even if you are a seasoned IFComp veteran.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
