The ‘GameMaker Awards 2021’ Now Accepting Submissions

The ‘GameMaker Awards 2021’ Now Accepting Submissions

Ah, the GameMaker Awards. A prestigious affair that doubles as a chance for developers either with a finished game or one available in Early Access/demo form – as long as it’s available and created with GameMaker Studio 2. There are a few more tidbits to go over though…

So, seeing how you only have a somewhat limited window within which to submit your project for consideration, I’ll try not to waste any time with nonsense and get right to it. First up, submission deadline: if you’re reading this after May 31st, 2021, well, that’s that. You’re too late and the four judges will be well busy picking 5 finalists from each category (Best Game and Most Anticipated Game), at which point… public voting will commence, deciding who’s the cream of the crop.

Provided your particular crop was made in GameMaker Studio 2 and made available, either in its final form or Early Access/demo, between April 1st, 2020 and April 30th, 2021. It’s called GameMaker Awards 2021 for a reason. Oh, and those who don’t beat the odds and emerge victorious also get to go home with a prize of sorts in the form of a finalist logo and a 12-Month Ultimate GameMaker Studio 2 Licence.

Meanwhile, the overall winners will be treated to just a tiny bit more: a winner’s logo, a winner’s trophy, a promotion spot on Opera GX Corner, the YoYo Games website, and of course, on social media. Groovy stuff, both for the finalists and the winners, I’d say.

Full terms and conditions? Here.
Looking to submit? Right over here.

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
