With many bundles making an appearance, never to be heard from again, I was surprised to see Flying Bundle return; pleased, but surprised. Like that of their previous outing, the selection here consists of lesser-known indie games for the most part, which is always nice.
With a total of ten games divided between two pricing tiers, chances are you’ll find at least a few reasons to pick this one up. As far as DRM goes, it’s a mix of Steam and Desura this time, which I’m sure is going to upset some while others will love it. That’s the way it seems to be with bundles, after all. Each tier also includes a mystery title, so there’s no way to know exactly what you end up getting; well, for the most part, you’ll know, but… right, moving on.
Everytime you buy a flying “Moonrise” Bundle, somewhere in the world a penguin smiles!
Wait, what?! Oh, right: Linux! Well, one of the included games (DIVO) is available for that platform, so I guess it makes sense. Time for an overview of the bundle contents.
$1 tier
Chernobyl Commando (Windows – Desura)
When the terrorist attacked Chernobyl Power Plant, captain Yuri Ryakov was sent to sabotage their efforts and destroy radioactive material transports. He succeeded… partially. Now, Russian Army is attacking terrorists’ positions in Chernobyl. However, despite their numbers and aircraft support, they are having tough time trying to defeat the terrorists.
Dinner Date (Windows – Steam) impressions
„Dinner Date” is the character portrait of Julian: by becoming his subconsciousness you gain a clear vantage point on the worries which take a hold of him. As the wait for the beautiful girl grows longer it becomes evident that Julian’s real problems may not even begin originate the girl: what of his work and his boss? And what of the headhunter, his fascination with Byron and his friendship with Jerry who, all things considered, was ultimately the person who pushed Julian to go on this date?
Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood (Windows, Mac – Steam)
You take the role of a last-standing hard-boiled Legionnaire taking on an entire rebel army. A small campaign with various objectives, such as defending civilians, escorting a tourist bus and a mass-chicken-murder map. The game includes a ranking system that allows you to unlock new outfits, accessories and of course new weapons.
Noire (Windows, Mac – Desura)
World is such a magical place where you can live greatest day or a worst nightmare – it’s up to you what you choose. Pixel Man is casual guy as we all are and he needs your help to understand the world in difficult situations. This game is not designed to be hard. It will open your eyes to find the hidden message that game carries through all the chapters – understanding the real life.
$4 tier
DIVO (Windows, Linux – Steam, Desura)
This is an unusual, bright and dynamic arcade game, where you control a hamster in a cyber wheel! Our hero must, within a limited time, reach the finishing point of the level while simultaneously avoiding collisions with enemies and collecting all sorts of bonuses, to successfully complete each level! The game also has various elements of puzzles, where you have to find certain items in order to pass a certain obstacle.
Foreign Legion: Multi Massacre (Windows, Mac – Steam)
Foreign Legion: Multi Massacre is the (far too) long awaited follow up to Buckets of Blood. Now you can continue the cartoon-style third person battle online and battle your friends, enemies or even frenemies across 6 maps and various modes. Reduce the never-ending army of a non-descriptive country to a bloody, meaty pulp (with extra zest!) as legionnaires of an even less described country.
Lightfish (Windows, Mac – Steam, Desura)
LightFish is a highly addictive arcade game, where the user controls a small fish who lives in the abyssal deeps of the ocean… surrounded by deadly creatures. His objective is to destroy all the monsters who inhabit those dangerous zones by drawing lines onto unexplored territory. However, any enemy who manages to touch the Lightfish will kill him instantly!
Rhythm Destruction (Windows – Desura) Greenlight
Rhythm Destruction is a rhythm / shoot em up(shmup) game. Inspired by classics such as Ikaruga and infused with the intensity of addictive rhythm gameplay, it is unlike anything you’ve ever played before. Blast your way through 10 thrilling and challenging stages, fueled by the sounds of upbeat electronic music.
Don’t forget that Flying Bundle’s “Moonrise” will only be available for less than fifteen days, so don’t wait too long; unless you enjoy paying full price for indie games, that is. Nothing wrong with that, but since a bundle has been made available and all – might as well, right?
