WX-78. Time for the machines to rise. Skynet to activate. Just kidding. It is however time for Don’t Starve Together‘s WX-78 character refresh, and… Shared Unlocks!
So, what’s new and different with everyone’s favourite robot? Well, first up, WX-78 now has the knowledge required to create circuits, unlocking special abilities when installed, powered by their electrical charge meter. Interesting. Electrifying. Powerful? That remains to be seen. Oh right, Clockworks are also less aggressive towards WX-78 now. Neat little addition.
After the wiring to their long-unused empathy module is repaired, WX-78 finds themselves suddenly reconnecting with memories they’d hoped to keep buried.
Running low on health, sanity, or hunger? Eat gears! No, really. Go to town on those things. Trust me, you don’t want to be starving when playing as this character, as that’ll cause you to lose electricity – much like getting wet – and when that runs out, health is next! Eek.
They’ve also reverted the mouse targeting changes from the March 2022 Quality of Life… for now. Among other things. Lots of other things. Including new skins, streaming drops, bug fixes, and… hints at what the future holds, which just might include the ability to offline on Switch (and other platforms). Shared Unlocks also made it into this update, although only between Xbox, Switch, Steam and WeGame, at the time of writing. PlayStation might happen. Might not. Time will tell.
Hmm… let’s see… yup, lots of other fun things too. In fact, you should probably click the link below for the full picture – after watching the lovely animated short.
