Don’t Starve Together‘s latest addition is straight out of Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked as Warly is now part of the ever-growing cast of wacky playable characters in Klei’s “don’t starve, don’t go crazy, and about a hundred other things too” multiplayer survival. Oh, and if you’re feeling peckish, this guy’s got ya covered, being a bit of a crockpot pro and all.
Obviously, that’ll only stop your stomach from rumbling in-game, although seeing how scarce food can be, it definitely still serves a purpose. On a related note, how about a grinding mill and a seasoning station? Yeah. All portable too, which makes me wonder where Warly stores them when he’s not busy cooking up a storm with them. Something only he can do, by the way, so forget about trying to make a chef out of the green-thumbed Wormwood or putting any of Webber’s little friends into the stew. Just… don’t. Trust me.
Armed with a variety of rare ingredients and fancy cookware, Warly can’t wait to spice up the lives of his newfound taste testers… er, friends, with a full-course dinner of brand new meals and invigorating spices.
But while that’s rather lovely and all, unfortunately, Warly is not without… uh… quirks. Yeah, let’s call them that. For starters, while his max hunger is a tiny bit higher than that of everyone else at 250, it also decreases 20% faster. Warly gotta eat, ya know? On top of that, he’ll simply refuse to eat anything not prepared in his very own fancy little Portable Crock Pot, which does, fortunately, cook 25% faster and features “new exclusive dishes with unique bonuses and effects”. So good and bad, really, unlike this next thing which is just bad: dishes repeated within the same 48-hour period will benefit him less each time. Why? Well, variety is the spice of life!
Ah, almost forgot to mention how Warly is not the only new addition to Don’t Starve Together, the following vegetables having been added to the game: Toma Root, Potato, Asparagus, Pepper, Onion, and Garlic. Unlike Warly’s utilities, these can be used by everyone. Much like the new Crock Pot recipes. And like those, Warly too comes without a price tag attached, free for all to enjoy. Or murder horribly after a trip through a wormhole to who-knows-where. Your game, your decisions.
