Early 2020: The Bad Seed. Early 2021: Fatal Falls. Gee, I wonder when Dead Cell‘s third piece of premium DLC, The Queen and the Sea, will be released. If only there was a hint of some sort to base guesswork on. Yeah. Except, a trailer that landed just yesterday eliminated any need for such brain activity, on top of providing a rather juicy slice of gameplay.
In fact, the only thing missing from the trailer, really, is… the shark. What shark? Why, a new weapon in Dead Cells: The Queen and the Sea, and yes, you can totally throw it – still alive and kicking – at enemies. Which looks awesome. Given the name of this DLC, I doubt anyone is genuinely surprised to hear that players will also be getting their hands on a trident and a pirate hook, among other things, or that we’ll be taking on anchor-throwing shrimps in these murky waters. No, definitely not surprised, so much as excited!
Fight through the horrors of the Infested Shipwreck to reach the Lighthouse, then scale the soaring tower in a race against rising flames and angry guardians to reach the Crown, where an old foe awaits you…
Ah, but we mustn’t forget about the new biomes, like The Infested Shipwreck and the Lighthouse, one of which features a brand new kind of challenge while the other comes with a treasure hunt of sorts. Interesting stuff, and at the end of this newly extended journey awaits… The Crown! Emerge triumphant in one last duel there, and you’ll be treated to a brand new ending. Talk about cryptic, eh? Can’t wait to find out what that’s all about when The Queen and the Sea hit digital store shelves on January 6, 2022.
Dead Cells: The Queen and the Sea on Steam. Note: it’ll also be on consoles and other PC storefronts, but there aren’t pages for those yet.
