While the fact that Wadjet Eye Games’ point ‘n click hit Gemini Rue was heading to the iOS platform is not exactly a secret (anymore), until recently neither the release date nor its price tag had been made official. But at some point in the last 48 hours, all of that changed and its scheduled arrival is actually sooner than one might think (no, it’s not tomorrow).
It’s been a few years since this dark tale of betrayal and search for a new identity was originally released for Windows (I refuse to call it “PC” since that could include other operating systems too), and for reasons unknown, there’s no still sight of a Mac release. That doesn’t mean Apple fans will never get to experience Azriel Odin’s adventure, however, because April 11 marks the arrival of Gemini Rue on the app store, where it will be priced at $4.99 ($3.99 for a few weeks following its launch).
Whether or not they’re planning on making it available on even more platforms is unknown at this point, but I’m sure there are fans on both Linux, Mac and Android that would jump at a chance to play this game. One thing is however certain: according to a quote on Joystiq from PAX East, whether or not Wadjet Eye Games will be porting any of their other games to this platform depends largely on how well this one does. Much as I would love to play the Blackwell series on my iPad, I understand what they’re getting at, and as such – here’s to a hugely successful Gemini Rue iOS launch!
I’ll have more specific details on the port come launch, along with one of my infamously long reviews soon after.
