The ‘2021 Aggie Awards’ Are Upon Us: Nominees and Readers’ Choice Poll

2021 is over, long live 2022! Or something along those lines. If nothing else, as Adventure Gamers also noted, it did give us well over 200(!) new adventure games. Some small, some big. Some free, some with a price tag. All adventure games though, and the time has come to celebrate the lot!

By which I mean… well, not everyone’s going to win, of course, but simply being nominated is certainly nothing to sneeze at either. Speaking of which: I have taken the liberty of listing the lot below, from this article.

Anything and everything released last year (except for ports, unfinished episodic games and non-adventures, that is) is eligible for each award, so the choice is entirely yours.

But wait, there’s more: how’d you like to get your say in a big ol’ readers’ poll across no less than fifteen categories? Just remember, one person, one vote, and the categories are as follow: Best Story, Best Writing – Comedy, Best Writing – Drama, Best Character, Best Gameplay, Best Concept, Best Setting, Best Graphic Design, Best Animation, Best Music, Best Acting (Voice or Live Action), Best Sound Effects, Best Non-Traditional Adventure, Best Traditional Adventure, Best Adventure of 2021.

Phew. That’s a mouthful. Oh, you don’t need to vote in every single category either. In case anyone’s pondering about that, as some can be harder to decide on than others. Let your voice be heard where applicable, and don’t feel bad for ignoring one or more categories. You have until February 13 to get your picks in, and the grand Aggie Awards presentation will be taking place on the 18th of that same month. Ready… set… vote!

Whenever a big AAA title claims it'll "innovate with groundbreaking features", it usually turns out to be a snore-fest; one which simply mimics other games (poorly). This is where my interest indie game interest comes from: pick a random title from a pile of these, and chances are you’ll end up with something genuinely unique - often for well less than $60 too.
