Welcome to the (very) distant past. To a time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, a time long before humans. Oh, and it is also nearly time for Zniw’s mother’s hatchday, so of course, Zniw heads out in search of the perfect gift… and gets lost. So begins Zniw Adventure, and your help is required for this poor navigationally challenged dinosaur to find her way back home!
To claim that Zniw Adventure is kickin’ it old-school would be a huge understatement: 4:3 aspect ratio, cartoonish art style, hand-drawn backgrounds, and frame-by-frame animation. Everything about this point-and-click adventure is definitely straight out of the 1990s, much like its inspiration – adventure games and edutainment titles from that gone-but-not-forgotten era. So much, in fact, that there’s even an in-game encyclopedia with fun facts about the prehistoric creatures, locations, and items Zniw come across on her journey.
Now, even though not every dinosaur was believed to be a herbivore, this experience will still be completely void of gore, blood, and even bad language, to ensure even younglings will be able to take Zniw for a walk. A really long walk. Through thick jungles, dark caves, lush forests, and other era-appropriate locales. But while the goal is to get her safely back to her hometown of Wajapulka, there are also concept artworks and minigames to unlock, some of which I’m sure will require straying from the path. Which, in Zniw’s case, might actually be a terrible idea, given her sensational ability to wander off and lose her way. I’m sure everything will be fine in the end though.
Zniw Adventure is available on Steam, carrying an $8.99 price tag.
